Description
Listed by Cook and Wedderburn amongst the unframed objects in the Teaching Collection (XXI.308). As these had not been given an order by Ruskin, they have been given arbitrary accession numbers based upon their position in Cook and Wedderburn's list for the purposes of the current catalogue.
Perhaps a leaf from the sixteenth-century Persian illuminated Manuscript of the "Shāhnāma" of Firdausī which Cook and Wedderburn described in a glass case, listed amongst the items 'On the Walls of the School, or standing on cabinets, etc.' which had been presented by Ruskin (XXI.300). For the manuscript, see no. OXFBL.Dep.b.5 in this catalogue (listed amongst the works on the school's walls).
