Both sides covered with extensive letterpress, notably running headers 'De Auibus' with the page number '426' (recto), and 'De gallina Afric.&c.Lib.III.' with the page number '425' (verso); the image is labelled, above, 'DE GALLOPAVO.'

Presumably presented by John Ruskin to the Ruskin Drawing School (University of Oxford); first recorded in the Ruskin Drawing School in 1906; transferred from the Ruskin Drawing School to the Ashmolean Museum c.1949
